He has a racket set up there that goes like this: A principal can accuse an employee of any outrageous thing without a single shred of evidence and the sub is immediately suspended and called to a conference/hearing. The accused is not given an opportunity to face the accuser or examine evidence. The accused is also barred from being represented by an attorney at this hearing despite the fact that the consequence of the outcome could be lost pay or termination. Having a union rep at the hearing is NOT the same thing as bringing a private attorney. They don't play with a full deck and do a lot of sneaky, underhanded dirty things to their employees. The DOE does not do enough to protect its members anymore. Thirty years later I have come to accept that my aunt's assessment of the teaching profession and NYC public schools was accurate. She was a teen immigrant to NY and became a high school dropout who made a living working in cash in the furnished room business. She said teaching was a job that made a person get up too damned early, put too many restrictions on one's personal life and that teachers don't make any money cause they are paid on the books and not too highly. She said why are they fingerprinting you? Did you break the law?Mariehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10299508587303405964noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8515738343772337569.post-75242810793341667372017-06-11T19:33:01.093-04:002017-06-11T19:33:01.093-04:00Our Union has become a disgrace for our hard worki...Our Union has become a disgrace for our hard working teachers.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8515738343772337569.post-4197250408467746092017-06-11T08:11:52.975-04:002017-06-11T08:11:52.975-04:00Just another disgrace of the Union for not treatin...Just another disgrace of the Union for not treating its experienced teachers with respect, and differently from the younger teachers.
