WFAS 1230 AM is a small radio station in White Plains, NY. Tomorrow I will be appearing live, in studio on the Bob Marrone Show at 6:35 AM until about 7:20 AM EDT to talk about my situation and how it correlates to all teachers. It should be quite an interesting 45 minutes.
The call in # is 914-693-5700
The coverage area of WFAS is not great as you can see on this map;
So what to do? WFAS streams live, is on iHeart Radio, or download the app from Google Play or the Apple Store.
For the social media aficionados, check out WFAS on Facebook, Twitter, and Bob Marrone is on Twitter as well.
To paraphrase Charles Osgood, "See you tomorrow on the radio."
Can you post your broadcast on your blog for people who live outside of NY?
ReplyDeleteIn about 20 minutes there will be.
ReplyDeleteI heard most of the interview. You did well. I don't know that host; he seems sympathetic and "gets" the issues but.... boy.... he likes to *control* things.
ReplyDeleteTeachers and non-teachers alike can probably best appreciate the UFT anomaly. ( The OSI and SCI stuff might be more than the casual morning radio listener can digest. Though I'll grant you, it will make a great futuristic dystopian novel someday.)
That is: they assume since you have what is generally thought to be a "powerful" union ( Yeah, it's "powerful", all right.) that yours should be a sort of "fair fight". That is: a battle between evenly matched adversaries.
I'd work on trying to dispel that myth when you go back next week. People CAN grasp the idea of getting the shaft from an entity that's *supposed* to be in your corner; that, in fact, helps itself to about 1000 dollars of your earnings per year in order to protect your right ( your *obligation*, really) to report administrative malfeasance when you encounter it.
