E4E's Michael Loeb Enters Campbell Brown's Twilight Zone

A lot has been said in the last few days or so of CNN's Cambpell Brown, and wife of MichelleRheeFirst lackey Dan Senor, and her column in the Wall Street Journal claiming that teacher's unions, in particular the UFT, protects sexual predators. Nothing, we all know, could be further from the truth.

More disturbing is that a fellow teacher and UFT member (both terms used quite loosely) and Educators4Excllence bon vivant, Michael Loeb, without thinking, without any concern at the true nature of adult sexual predators decides to thoughtlessly and sycophantically speak out in support of, not only Campbell Brown, but of New York State Senator Stephen Saland's bill. A bill which will give final say so to the fate of teachers accused unjustly of predation to Chancellor Walcott which means it is actually Uncle Mike as the final arbiter.
Michael Loeb, a middle school teacher in the Bronx and UFT member, calls this a "horrible situation," telling me "if you keep these people in the classroom, you are demeaning our profession."
Really, Michael?  It demeans our profession? Wonderful how Michael states the obvious. Where was Michael when my wife as a young girl of 4-6 had a male friend of her family have her sit on his lap while he had an erection and had her rub back and forth until he ejaculated?  That is true sexual predation. Not what most of these accusations of been. A teacher making inappropriate and stupid comments, or a teacher being falsely accused of true sexual misconduct or sexual verbiage.
Michael Loeb still supports his union but says it "treats teachers like interchangeable widgets"—defending all teachers no matter what they have done.
Interchangeable widgets? 

The 14th amendment clearly and succinctly states;
nor shall any State deprive any person of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor deny to any person within its jurisdiction the equal protection of the laws.
Michael, do you have an issue with the United State Constitution? Do have a problem with the American way of life?

As much as this man hurt and damaged my wife, he is allowed the right to counsel, the right to trial, a right to face his accuser, the right to impartial jury, a right to appeal. My wife, nor I, can be judge, jury, and executioner. These are the ideals of this country. This is what we believe in, what teachers you work in believe, and what our union believes in. It is called due process. Learn it. Live it. Deal with it.

Michael, there is a fifth dimension beyond that which is known to man ...

Michael, what would happen one day, and I hope this day will never happen, that you are accused of something as heinous as molesting a child? What is it you would do?

a dimension as vast as space and as timeless as infinity.

The first thing Michale would do is run, not walk, to the UFT. "Help me, please," will be your cry. "I didn't do it, I was railroaded, what I said was taken out of context, I was never there, etc..." Yes Michael would want that union there for him.

It is the middle ground between light and shadow, between science and superstition,

If Michael got arrested, he would want to make sure he is in protective custody, he would want a union attorney, he would want DUE PROCESS.

and it lies between the pit of man's fears and the summit of his knowledge.

Even if Michael were not to be charged criminally he could still face termination through the 3020a process. Would Michael refuse a strong defense in his case? Would Michael, if exonerated or even if charges not fully founded accept the arbitrator's finding of a fine and being sent back to the classroom? Or would he ask the arbitrator to terminate him?

This is the dimension of imagination.

Would Michael acquiesce to the whim of Sock Puppet Walcott and Uncle Mike? Noooooooo. He would whine and moan and bitch like the little boy that he is . "No, not me, not me! I'm innocent!!!" Too bad Michael, you made your bed, the roosters have come home to roost. All you need is.....

Rod Serling to come out from behind a doorway to explain that a man who sucks up to to others, a man without any values, a man without any independent though, a man that conforms, a man that wishes to hurt others, will only find himself on the losing side in The Twilight Zone.

Be careful of what you wish Michael.

Great incendiary writing! One question: I'm in the "real world", ie not in a public employee union, and I can get fired at ANY time, without "due process" - why should you guys get more protection than the rest of us in the capitalist system? Sure they ought not to be able to put you in JAIL without due process, but firing you? Hell yeah. If employees of private companies could demand due process to keep their jobs, there would be no computers, no smartphones, no cars that actually work... the outcome would be as unsuccessful well hey, the public school system. But you want that TV you're watching to work every day right? Teensy smidges of inconsistent, non-critical thinking here.

Not to go on a political plug but Steven Saland who authored the bill giving the chancellor or sock puppet is another panderer, he who has been in office for 32 years is facing a strong democratic opponent who is breathing down his neck. I hope the UFT & NYUST take notice of this and support Terry Gipson who will dethrone Saland and this anti-due process law.

Why are you guys entitled to "due process" before losing your jobs when I and everybody else in the real world can be and should be fired at will if they don't cut it - as in the total subjective opinion of one's supervisor, with no due process! This is a system which makes sure every product you use works better than if it were made by oh, say, the govt. Imagine a govt made car - it would work as well as the ed system... Somebody please enlighten me!

I am a teacher in the public school system and I was given tenure 3 years ago. Needless to say I was flattered and honored to be granted tenure. I will honestly tell you that I don't want it!! I am very confident in my teaching and the education I have earned while in grad school. My students thrive in the classroom and are engaged by the lessons I prepare for them. I will also tell you that I work with the most vulnerable students in my district. I do not have connections with administration and pretty much keep to myself and focus on my students needs. If all teachers would stop the bullying, gossip and harassment of fellow staff members, more time could be focused on the teaching, learning and growth of their students. I will always focus on my students not on my tenure! Tenure leads to bullying and harassment - all of us in the education system understands that. As a teacher I say: get rid of tenure, get rid of unions and the useless reps and work hard each and every day!

To the 2 posters against tenure & due process. I feel truly sorry for you. You both sound angry & bitter. to the 1st poster, if you are angry because employees in public sector are afforded due process and you're not. Then form a union or join one, we public sector employees gave up higher salaries in other fields for stability,rights,pensions.
to the 2nd poster, you're a teacher and your against tenure, unions? me thinks youre a poser. or you're just lucky that you haven't run into a negative administrator yet. You'll see how much your hard work is valued or who has your back when your studens' scores are good enough, or will you work harder & harder to the deteriment of your health & family. What lesson are you teaching? its better to give up yourself? You can help anyone if you're not taking care of yourself first.

Bill, please, the reasons why the pension systems are a mess is because of the scum on Wall St, not muni workers.

If you understood civics, you would understand not only the 14th Amendment, but the United States Constitution as well.

Arguing that teachers shouldn't have due process is tantamount to saying that we can return to the bad-old-days when teachers where fired for getting pregnant, turning down advances, being the wrong ethnicity, or even having the "wrong" bumper stickers on there car.

Chris Christie just signed the tenure reform bill today for NJ. Read about it - it's mentioned all over the net. Seems like he will be Romney's VP choice from all of the buzz. The only thing he did not get is LIFO. He will be fighting for that reform very soon. I admire Christie he is exactly what this country needs!! Vote Romney/Christie 2012!
